Networking reimagined

Networking is the number one reason why people go to business events and one of the most important reasons why they come back time after time. If they meet interesting new people and have conversations that are genuinely useful, it’s highly likely they will return. And, the better the networking, the more you can charge delegates and sponsors.

However, ironically, sub-optimal networking is typically the number one challenge faced by business event organisers.

Who2Meet resolves this conundrum by reimagining what happens from the moment a delegate is confronted by a room full of strangers.

The Who2Meet app tells every delegate individually who in that room is most worth walking over to, and why.

Delegates can also take a photo of the room and Who2Meet shows them who it suggests approaching.

It will also recommend to your team the best introductions to make.

How it works

On signup

Each delegate writes, in plain language, who and/or what type of people they’d most like to meet and uploads information about themselves. Who2Meet uses AI to evaluate every possible pairing in the room against each individual’s aspiration, and builds every delegate a personally prioritised list of introductions most likely to be worthwhile.

Personal shortlist

On the home screen of the Who2Meet app, delegates are shown the names of three people at the top of their personal shortlist, along with pictures to help spot them at the event. Tapping on the person’s name provides brief reasons why each person could benefit from meeting the other, along with various links to facilitate contact. There’s also a helpful form to log introductions and any follow up action. If it turns out that the personal shortlist contains the name of someone already known or not relevant, the recommendation can be deleted; and another person will be suggested instead.

Sponsored shortlist

Underneath the personal shortlist of three suggested introductions, the event organiser has the option to add a second list of individuals, titled Sponsor Introductions. These are people nominated by event sponsors who are keen to meet specific delegates. How those spaces are filled, by whom and at what cost is for the event organiser to decide. They are designed as a mechanism to add value to the event’s sponsorship proposition.

Just take a picture of the room

At the event, in addition to receiving a personal shortlist, delegates can point their phone at a crowd of people and take a picture. Who2Meet reviews the image and identifies who (if anyone) is most worthwhile for them to meet.

Recognition

When analysing photos, Who2Meet names the relevant people it recognises in the photograph, sometimes with a recognition confidence score. The names are interactive, linking to further profile information.

Introductions in one tap

If delegates find it difficult to introduce themselves in person, connecting takes one tap. Depending on the contact consents given by the person they’re keen to meet, delegates have the option to reach out via phone, email, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, or other means and schedule a meeting via a calendar invite.

Meeting log and follow up

The Who2Meet app makes it easy to save a quick note of an introduction, with a star rating and a few words on key points or follow up action.

Facilitating introductions

Most organisers can’t be everywhere in a reception, introducing people to each other; but now something can. From the same photo delegates take, Who2Meet gives members of the organising team a different view: pairs of people in the room most worth introducing to each other, along with the meeting rationale.

Used sensitively, the app helps event organisers to make worthwhile, personal introductions and so deliver a premium service to valuable sponsors and exhibitors, ensuring their attention is focussed on meeting the most useful people present.

The optional sponsored introduction section enhances the networking visibility for sponsors and provides an upsell opportunity.

After the event, a range of analytic reports can be downloaded by the event organiser, covering metrics such as the number of profiles viewed, contacts initiated through the app and meetings logged. Where sponsored shortlists have been used, the data can be broken down to be sponsor specific.
