Cookies and Device Storage Policy

Version 2 · for Delegates, Organisers and Visitors · last updated 30 October 2026

In short
  • Who2Meet sets no cookies.
  • The app keeps some information on your own phone or computer, so that it can sign you in, keep your sign-up as you go, and work at an Event even when the signal is poor.
  • All of it is strictly needed for the Service you asked for. That is why we do not ask you to accept cookies.
  • We use no advertising, no tracking and no analytics from other companies.
  • You can clear it all at any time from your browser's settings.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what Who2Meet stores on your device, and why. It covers the website who2meet.com and the Who2Meet app (together, "the Service"). It is run by Tarsh Ltd, trading as Who2Meet ("we", "us").

The law on this is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). It covers cookies and any similar way of storing or reading information on your device. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal information more generally.

Does Who2Meet use cookies?

No. Neither the website nor the app sets any cookies.

The website stores nothing on your device at all. Only the app does, as set out below.

What does the app store on my device, and why?

Instead of cookies, the app uses the storage that browsers provide for web apps. Everything it keeps falls into four groups.

GroupWhat it holdsWhy it is neededHow long it stays
Signing inA sign-in key that keeps you signed in, the Event you are using, a random number identifying your device, and, for a private Event, its password while you sign up or sign inSo that you stay signed in, and so that we can keep your account secureUntil you sign out, or clear your browser's storage. A private Event's password is deleted as soon as you have joined or signed in; if you want it kept, your phone or browser can offer to save it in its own password store.
Your draftsWhat you type and the photos you take while signing up, before you send themSo that nothing is lost if you stop part-way. Your name and email address reach us from the first screen, and a few steps send us what they need as you go; the Privacy Policy explains exactly what is sent during sign-up, and whenUntil you finish signing up or clear your browser's storage
Offline copyThe app itself, the face recognition models, the Event's files (including other members' photos), other members' Face Templates where they agreed (kept only in encrypted form, with a key the app can use but no one can copy out), and the key of an Event whose files are locked (every private Event, and the Heroes Summit demonstration)So the app works quickly, and still works in a crowded room with a poor signalReplaced when the app or Event is updated. Other members' Face Templates, and a locked Event's files and key, are deleted when you sign out.
Your records and preferencesYour meeting record and the people you set aside (also kept with us), the contact details of people whose cards you opened, records of what you did waiting to be sent, and small settings such as whether you have already seen the offer to install the appSo the app remembers your choices, and works when you are offlineUntil you clear your browser's storage. Your records stay with us as well.

All of this is "strictly necessary" for the Service you asked for. Under PECR, storage of this kind does not need your consent. That is why we show no cookie banner. If we ever add storage that is not strictly necessary, such as analytics, we will ask you first.

What about other companies?

The app loads nothing from other companies. Its fonts, its code and its face recognition models are all served by Who2Meet.

The website loads nothing from other companies either: its fonts, pictures and code are all served by Who2Meet.

Links to other websites, such as LinkedIn, WhatsApp or a booking page, take you to those websites. Their own cookie policies then apply.

How do I clear what the app has stored?

Clearing this data does not delete your account or what we hold. To do that, use Menu → My account, or write to [email protected].

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will publish the new version here with its date.
